has released a statement reflecting on the historical significance of the Karbala uprising, offering his interpretation of Islamic governance throughout history, and expressing support for the Islamic Revolution and the Axis of Resistance.
The statement concludes with a call for unity among those he says seek justice and oppose oppression.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
A great number of those who ruled the Muslim nation, whether over all or part of its lands, adopted a position of hostility toward Islam because they perceived a conflict between their worldly interests and the interests of Islam.
They diminished Islam and distorted its image, presenting it as a fragile, rigid, isolated religion that is hostile to worldly life and to the progress of civilization.
They indulged in life to the utmost excess, living extravagantly and arrogantly. Whoever refused to support them in their falsehood and oppression was deprived of the very sustenance necessary for survival.
They committed excessive killing and slaughter against the sons of the nation.
Through both their actions and their words, they slandered Islam. They presented to all people a repulsive and abhorrent image of the religion because of the sins they committed in its name, after falsely and deceitfully claiming that they were rulers "by the permission of God."
The Revolution of Karbala, led by the Imam of Truth, Imam Hussain—whom Almighty God chose to remove this corrupt rule from His religion and His servants—revealed the true image of God's religion.
It demonstrated its radiance, enlightenment, guidance, attractiveness, and its immense capacity to enrich humanity's spiritual, intellectual, and material life.
As a result, Muslim society gradually came to regard Islam with reverence, honor, and profound respect.
Movements of repentance and self-sacrificing devotion to Islam emerged, together with a passionate love for it. Minds and hearts began to open to Islam, drawn by its majesty, beauty, justice, and mercy.
Thereafter, and continuing until the present day, the rule of pharaohs, tyrants, and those who prey upon the nation's wealth has persisted, displaying degrading collaboration, complete servility and subjugation, and active participation in what is described as a war against Islam and its people.
This has been embodied in numerous regimes that exercise unjust and coercive control over vast areas of the Muslim world's land and population, even though the governments of these regimes belong ethnically and nationally to the Muslim nation itself.
Finally came the authentic and victorious Islamic Revolution, together with the truthful Islamic system, to sweep away injustice, establish justice, erase falsehood, and uphold truth.
Under Imam Ruhollah Khomeini and the martyred Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei—may God's pleasure be upon them—a fierce confrontation began between them, on the one hand, and what is described as arrogant disbelief and tyranny represented by the United States, Zionism, the Israeli entity, as well as the dark hypocrisy and openly immoral conduct of a number of ruling regimes counted among the Muslim nation, on the other.
The expectation for this struggle is that it will break the power of tyranny, disbelief, and hypocrisy, allowing the Resistance Front— the front of truth, justice, guidance, security, and peace—to prevail.
This is a decisive battle for both sides: between the camp of arrogance and its supporters, and the camp of the people of faith, truth, and justice, together with all the oppressed, deprived, and free people of the world who seek truth and incline toward justice.
Accordingly, all those who care about truth and are inspired by justice should unite their ranks in order to defeat falsehood, arrogance, monopoly, oppression, and vice.
