Detained Bahraini opposition leaders have issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Sayyed Muhammad Al-Mousawi, who passed away a week after his arrest. His family received his body showing visible signs of the detention period.
The statement cites findings from well-known Bassiouni’s report, which documents numerous testimonies and evidence of torture during his detention.
According to the BICI report, the lack of accountability has allowed such chronic and systematic practices to persist, making Sayyed Al-Mousawi the latest victim of this ongoing abuse.
The detained leaders extended their condolences to Al-Mousawi’s family, praying for patience and solace, and affirmed their faith.
The statement was signed by Sheikh Abdul Jalil Al-Miqdad, Sheikh Muhammad Habib Al-Miqdad, Sheikh Ali Salman, Mr. Abdul Wahab Hussain, and Sheikh Saeed Al-Nouri from Jau Central Prison on 30 March 2026.
Below is the full text of the statement:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
"And do not think of those who have been killed in the way of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision."
– Al-Imran 3:169
