National Islamic Society has reported that Bahrain’s security authorities continue to expand their arrest campaign through a series of detentions targeting multiple citizens, including eulogists, following interrogation summons and security raids on private residences.
According to Al-Wefaq, the arrests carried out on May 16 included Ali Jawad Mahmood Al-Maqabi, Haidar Waseem, Sayyed Mohammed Hamza, and Ali Eid. Additional arrests were reported on May 18, involving Ali Abdul Jalil and Sayyed Jawad Al-Mousawi, while May 19 witnessed the detention of Abbas Eid, Mohammed Al-Qayyim, and Sayyid Reda Al-Mousawi.
The society further stated that eulogist Abbas Nouh and Jaafar Fadl were also detained after being summoned for questioning.
In a related development, security forces reportedly raided the residence of Hassan Ibrahim Al-Ajooz in the early hours of Monday, May 18, arresting him and transferring him to an undisclosed location before later returning him to his home accompanied by intelligence officers.
Al-Wefaq stated that intensifying security measures as evidence of an ongoing reliance on security-driven responses and collective punitive policies, rather than efforts to address the country’s escalating political and human rights tensions.
The campaign has also prompted allegations that the scope of targeting is widening to include members of the Shia community and individuals expressing dissenting views.
